Dental Impression
A dental impression is a negative imprint of teeth and surrounding oral tissues, used as a mold to fabricate dental prosthetics such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
Dental impressions are the starting point of most dental lab workflows. Traditionally made with alginate or silicone materials, they are sent from clinics to laboratories where technicians pour plaster models and begin fabrication.
With the rise of digital dentistry, intraoral scanners can now create digital impressions (STL files) that are sent electronically to the lab. This eliminates shipping delays, reduces errors from material distortion, and enables direct digital manufacturing.
Dentaron supports both traditional and digital impression workflows. Physical impressions are tracked with barcode scanning, while digital impressions (STL files) are managed through the Transfer module with automatic pricing and production queue management.
